Iowa State Chapter of Triangle Fraternity
Meet me in Ames - Grand Reunion and Colony Update E-mail

February 7, 2014

You may be buried under a foot of snow today, but it's time to start thinking about spring! The Triangle Fraternity Grand Reunion is right around the corner, and we want the best turn-out possible. I want to give you an update on the new colony and give you the information you need to attend the 50th Anniversary celebration.

Colony Update
Last Saturday, 12 of our new members made the trip to the Minnesota Chapter for the first initiation. Congratulations to them, and we're happy to mark this milestone on our way back to full Chapterhood. The next step is to find a common living/meeting space for the men, and we are in discussions with the ISU Dept. of Residence and local property management groups to find an appropriate location.

Chapter Update & Homecoming 2013 E-mail

Greetings! Hope you are doing well, and enjoying fall more than the Cyclones are (eesh!). I want to give you an update on the chapter and remind you of some upcoming events for ISU Triangle Alums.

A few weeks ago, I was privileged enough to be able to attend the formal pledging ceremony of the first 18 new members of the Iowa State Colony (2.0) of Triangle. Joining the ceremony were parents of the new members, 15 local (and some not so local) alums, National Office staff and volunteers, undergraduate presidents from other fraternities and sororities and Interfraternity Council officers. A few days later, they pledged another 5 men, bringing the Colony to 23 with a goal of 50 members before the 50th Anniversary Reunion in April. All 23 new members received a sponsor for their new membership fee – see the list of sponsors at

The men are currently meeting weekly to go through new member education, conducted by our own alumni volunteers on the ground in Ames. Officers have been selected and they have adopted a constitution. The men who make grades this semester will be initiated at the beginning of the spring semester. My deepest thanks to those alumni and national staff members for doing a tremendous job recruiting and training the men to take this next phase of the chapter forward.

Please make plans to come to Ames and meet the new members at Homecoming in a few weeks, or at the 50th Anniversary Reunion in April. Much more info to come on the 50th Reunion, but Homecoming will be here before you know it. Here are the weekend’s organized events:

Friday, Nov. 8 Dinner with the Colony 7:00 pm Iowa Stater Restaurant at Gateway Center Hotel
Saturday, Nov. 9 Tailgate 8:00 - 11:00 AM Tent Row, between B4 and C4 (download map)
Homecoming game 11:00 AM Jack Trice Stadium (RSVP for tickets by October 30)
Alumni Meeting 3:00 PM ISU Alumni Center (between Hilton and Jack Trice)

Please RSVP for Homecoming weekend at

If you cannot attend Homecoming, please make plans to attend the 50th Anniversary Reunion the weekend of April 11-13, 2014. Please note that is a week earlier than in previous communications.

See you at Homecoming!

Thank you for your sponsorship! E-mail

Huge thanks to all who have sponsored a new member's pledge fee! The new member fee for National goes toward the pledge pin, member manual and filing time for the office staff. It was just reduced this summer from $115 to $90. The sponsorship is a great way to, not only make it easier on the undergrads, but also start this new chapter off on the right foot, showing them that alumni involvement and commitment is strong. It also gives our alums a way to feel connected again with the chapter. Many have expresses a desire to help, and this is a nice easy way to do it.
